Weekend Adventures

Dan and I took Camden on his first real road trip over the 4th of July weekend. Just a short trip over to Arkansas to see an old friend of mine and take care of some business for my parents. We stayed at the posh accommodations - my parent's house. (It was a little sad to me that Camden's first visit to his grandparent's house did not include visiting his grandparents. But I consoled myself with the fact that next time he will be old enough that he can enjoy it when Grandpa is back and shows him the zip line and tree house. )
So we had a fantastic visit with my super good friend Sarah and her husband Manfred. They live in Austria, but came back to the US to see her family. It is felicitious that Sarah is the offspring of the amazing Vela, who also came to help me shortly after Camden was born.
We had a enjoyable afternoon at their house on Sunday and went boating with them on Monday. The company was entertaining enough, but it was twice as fun to be on the lake with them.

Here is Sarah and her friend Vera, also from Austria.

This is most of the crew - Sarah, Manfred, and Sarah's nieces - Kaylee, Liz, and Mackenzie.

I did feel a little guilty taking Camden out into the heat, but there were plenty of arms willing to hold him and entertain him and keep him in the shade. But we're going to have to find a way to keep bikini babes away from him once he is a little older. Camden is a serious chick-magnet.
We did try to find appropriate swimwear for the boy, but apparently the public is opposed to babies this young being submersed in water. No swimming diapers or swim trunks are available for his size.
Camden did not really enjoy his brief dip in the lake. Perhaps that's because he didn't like getting smeared in sunscreen. And I wasn't planning to have Camden swim, but he had the most impressive diaper explosion to date, and Vela suggested we just rinse him off in the lake. (Okay, I really did clean him off first, but since he was pretty much naked already.....)

Good thing Vela was on hand to soothe the lacerated feelings of our poor child after his unpleasant experience in the cool lakewater. You can see, though, that he made a full recovery.

Wow! Quite an adventure for Camden! He's building lots of good memories before he'll even remember them, except through the great pictures.
