Hazards - Day 3

Yay!  One inside pier is all done.  Here it is with the jack lift attached.

Here is my adorable boy - all perplexed about what is going on at his house.

Here's another pier that seems mostly complete, but needs the lift attached.  And they are working on another one in the closet.
Oh, look, Mom!  There's dirt in the house!  Can I eat it, please?

Camden was super excited about the large dirt piles outside and had fun throwing dirt clods.
And eating them.

So, I talked to the crew leader for the work on the house and it sounds like this process may be slower than we hoped, as their more efficient drill (whose motor is housed on the large truck they drive) is not accessible since that truck is under repairs.  So they are using a less speedy drill.  Plus they are having to drill 33 ft down to bedrock.  Hence the process is slow and will probably drag into next week.  Sigh!

Hazards - Day 2

A crew came yesterday to do the outside piers around the chimney area.  The landscaping is a little different now.  Fortunately, after they lift everything, they will put everything back how it was.   Yay!

This is what is under the wood planks.  Looks pretty neat to me.

Inside the house, the workers finished coring through the concrete and appear to be using this monstrous machine to drill down to the bedrock and insert the beams.

It's pretty enormous.  But way better than hand-auguring, I'm sure.

Camden and I continue to thrive by spending our days with a fantastic friend.  I'm so grateful!!

Household Hazards (temporarily)

Well, our house is now shrouded.  Nope, not for a funeral.  Just out of consideration for OCD people who don't want to clean up after a wet saw.

So, when one has to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom - at which time, you are, of course, at your most alert and coordinated -- how would you like to navigate this?
Fortunately, there is a nice little plank to cover the hole, so you don't sprain your ankle.  Or worse.

These are among the 5 holes drilled into our foundation yesterday to prepare for inserting the beams that will support our house, since the underlying soil doesn't seem to be doing so properly.

This is the nifty coring machine that they use to penetrate the concrete floor.

This is Camden feeling a little confused about what is happening to his house.  Nothing is quite the way it should be.  He used to be more timid about walking over the tack strips, calling for help and someone to hold his hand, but now he just crosses them like a pro.  He is still a little frightened of the carpet padding though.

Now, on to a happier sight!
Camden LOVES to be spun around in the computer chair.  Doesn't he have the best smile?  And you can't tell, but he really is getting hair - it's almost a mullet.  Perhaps I shouldn't be proud of that.
